Why I Love My Job (And Why I'm So Good At It)

Lewis B

Hey everyone,

I was thinking the other day about how I got here. I’ve been a personal trainer for over 12 years now, and sometimes people ask me, “Do you ever get tired of it?”

The truth is, I don’t. I love it more every year. And I think it’s because of the unique path I’ve taken.

My approach to nutrition and fitness wasn’t built just in a classroom. It was built through real-life, high-stakes challenges.

I learned discipline and resilience during my four years in the British Army as an infantryman. Your body is your most important piece of equipment there. I used nutrition as elite-level fuel, to perform under pressure, to recover, and to be ready for anything. It wasn't about looks; it was about function and survival.

Later, I trained as a powerlifter. My goal was pure strength. So my nutrition focused on building muscle and fueling heavy lifts. I learned how to eat to support a body that needed to be powerful.

Now, I compete as an amateur martial artist. This is a completely different challenge. It’s about speed, endurance, and the brutal process of cutting weight safely before a fight. I’ve had to learn how to manipulate my diet to make weight without losing my strength or energy.

Why am I telling you all this?

Because I’ve used nutrition as a precise tool for wildly different goals. And I’ve lived the results.

But here’s the best part: I get to use all of that knowledge not for myself anymore, but for my clients.

That’s what truly lights me up.

There’s nothing better than helping someone:
Finally lose the weight that’s been bothering them for years.
Build strength they didn’t know they had.
Wake up with more energy.
See their mood and sleep improve just by changing what’s on their plate.

I’ve seen it happen countless times. It never gets old.

For me, personalized nutrition coaching isn’t just about giving you a meal plan. It’s about being a guide. It’s about taking all these lessons from the Army, the powerlifting platform, and the martial arts gym and translating them into a simple, effective plan for your life.

Your goals might be different from mine, but the principles are the same. It’s about respect for your body and using the right fuel to help it do amazing things.

So, if you’re thinking about making a change, know that you wouldn’t just be getting a coach. You’d be getting someone who has been in the trenches, literally and figuratively. Someone who knows this stuff works because I’ve used it at the most demanding levels.

I’d be honoured to help you write your own success story.

If you're ready to work with someone who gets it, I'm here for you. Let's talk about your goals.
