Let's think about the difference through a quiz! ：）

① Sugu kuru yo.
② Mōsugu kuru yo.
Which one gives the image that the teacher will come sooner — ① or ②?

Answer: ① "Sugu kuru yo."
Both ① and ② are grammatically correct, but Sugu gives the image of being earlier / quicker than Mōsugu.

Which is correct, ① or ②?
A: Amazon de katta geem todoita? [Did the game you bought on Amazon arrive?]
B:
① Un, Sugu kita yo.
② Un, Mōsugu kita yo.

Answer: ① Un, Sugu kita yo. [Yes, it came right after I ordered.]
② is not correct.
Mōsugu CANNOT be used for past events.
Sugu can be used for the past, but mōsugu can only be used for future events.
Here's an image of how sugu and mōsugu work:
Sugu — examples :
✓ Ima Sugu iku [ I'll go Sugu. ] (right now)
✓ sotsughou shite Sugu kekkon shita [We got married Sugu after graduating.] (past)
✓ yondara Sugu wakaruyo. [If you read it, you'll understand Sugu.] (future / general)
➡ It can attach to any time point — past, present, or future — with the sense of "right after that moment."
Mōsugu — examples :
✓ Mōsugu tsuku. [It'll arrive mōsugu.]
✓ Mōsugu kurisumasu. [Mōsugu Christmas.]
× Mōsugu tsuita. [Mōsugu it arrived.] (Not possible for past)
➡ It expresses the feeling that "now is moving toward the future."
There are other differences between Sugu and Mōsugu, but let's stop here for today!
