"Never lose hope. Storms make people stronger and never last forever."
When it comes to the learning journey, few statements apply more accurately than this quote. Regardless of what your topic of study is, be it language, mathematics, or even a trade skill, you doubtless will encounter obstacles. Some obstacles will be much more challenging to deal with than others. In some cases, it may feel like you are making no progress despite your best efforts. This is where you must never lose hope.
Learning a language can truly feel like you are trapped in a terrible storm sometimes. It's important to remember that frustration with the learning process shows you care about what you are doing. When you care about a goal, nothing can stop you from achieving that goal. You merely need to weather the storm.
When that storm passes, you will be stronger for it. You will have learned to adapt, you will have learned new skills to help you excel. You will have learned tricks for remembering tricky grammar rules and vocabulary. Certain aspects of a language will become like second nature to you.
No two storms are exactly alike. Your storm might feel like it is ongoing, lasting forever. Remember that no storm lasts forever. When it has passed, and you have mastered whatever it was you were studying, the pride and sense of accomplishment you will feel will be unparalleled. Not only that, but you will be emboldened to push for higher and higher achievements.
What are some methods you use to keep your spirits up when encountering obstacles in your language learning journey? Are there any aspects of the English language you have trouble with in particular? Please share, I guarantee you aren't alone in your struggles! Finding a community can make weathering the storm easier and far more rewarding.
