My student won 3 Speech Contests!

Dear Cafetalk Community,

I'm so happy to announce that my student, Sumire, won 3 speech contests! I helped her prepare for and win three speech contests in a row! I'm so proud of her inherent talent, but I am also proud of how hard we worked during each lesson to achieve such amazing results.

We had many one on one sessions to prepare for the contest. My goal is to work with children individually, refining their pronunciation one sentence at a time. We will focus on the finer details of natural American English, including linking sounds, contractions, word stress, reduced forms, intonation, and rhythm, so that their speech flows smoothly and sounds more authentic.

Beyond pronunciation, I would like to help them become more engaging and expressive speakers. We will work on using facial expressions effectively, maintaining eye contact with the audience, and incorporating appropriate gestures and body movements. Instead of merely memorizing and repeating their speeches, I want them to communicate their messages as naturally as possible, as though they were sharing a story with their listeners.

Through careful, step-by-step guidance, I hope to help children develop a more polished, confident, and captivating presentation style. My aim is for them to speak with greater fluency and expressiveness, bringing their speeches to life and creating a meaningful connection with their audience.

嬉しいお知らせがあります！私の生徒のすみれちゃんが、スピーチコンテストで3回優勝しました！私は、すみれちゃんがコンテストに向けて準備をし、3つのコンテストで連続して優勝できるようサポートしてきました。彼女が生まれ持った才能を発揮してくれたことを誇りに思いますし、これほど素晴らしい結果を出すために、毎回のレッスンで一緒に一生懸命努力してきたことも、本当に誇らしく思っています。

コンテストに向けて、マンツーマンで何度も練習を重ねてきました。

私が子どもたちを指導する際には、一人ひとりに合わせて、一文ずつ丁寧に発音を磨いていくことを大切にしています。音のつながり（リンキング）、短縮形、単語の強勢、弱く発音される音、イントネーション、リズムなど、自然なアメリカ英語に欠かせない細かな点に注目し、スピーチが滑らかで、より自然に聞こえるよう練習します。

発音の指導に加えて、聞き手を引きつける表現力も身につけてほしいと考えています。表情を効果的に使うこと、聴衆としっかり目を合わせること、そして自然なジェスチャーや身体の動きを取り入れることにも取り組みます。スピーチをただ暗記して繰り返すのではなく、まるで聞き手に物語を語りかけるように、自分の伝えたいことを自然に表現できるようになってほしいと思っています。

一つひとつのステップを丁寧に指導しながら、子どもたちがより洗練された、自信に満ちた、そして聴衆を引きつける発表ができるようサポートしていきたいと思います。流暢さと表現力を高め、スピーチに命を吹き込み、聞き手の心に届く発表を目指します。
