How to use 'Both/And', 'Either/Neither', and 'Or/Nor' CORRECTLY

Elaina.C

Both = this AND that

Both is usually not used as a negative. You would normally use neither instead.

INCORRECT: Both of us don't like math.

CORRECT: Neither of us like math. / We both like math.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Either = this OR that

Either is used with OR to make a choice.

You can have either coffee or tea.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Neither = not this NOR that

When using neither, be careful to not use it in a double negative. Neither is also used with nor, but nor is more formal.

INCORRECT: I don't want neither coffee nor tea.

CORRECT: I want neither coffee nor tea. / I don't want coffee or tea.
