White strawberries!?

David

Has anyone ever seen these before?

Along with square watermelons (picture will come soon!) I am continually amazed by the Japanese imagination and ingenuity when it comes to fruit!!!! :-)

Supposedly non-genetically modified, but as a westerner (and an extremely health conscious eater!) we are generally put off by any kind of food package with the word 'Lab' on it!

I think these were around 7000 Yen for a small box.

I wonder how they taste?!

For now I will have to imagine.......

Thank you so much for sharing that link, Yoko. They look like the ones! I wonder if the price reflects the taste... :)

David, I think this white strawberry in the photo is produced in Nara prefecture. This "pearl white strawberry" is quite a new product (2015) and so far, I've never seen this strawberry being sold in the supermarket nearby... As a matter of fact, strawberries are a noted product of Nara prefecture and there are well known brand berries... such as Asuka ruby(明日香ルビー) and Kotoka(古都香. I guess that this "pearl white" is a high end derived brand of Kotoka. http://ichigo-tantei.com/kotoka-awayuki-pear
