Marathon Day!

David

Kyoto Marathon was so much fun!

I woke up at 5.30am to notice some snow on the rooftops outside my apartment! I knew instantly that this was going to be a cold day!!!

But the cold soon wore off after we started runnning, and the lovely atmosphere made the event feel so special!

Never before have I seen so many wonderful sites over one route.

There were taito drummers, cheerleaders, geishas and monks coming out of temples to cheer on the runners.

We passed countless world heritage sites, mountains, incredible temples, shrines, rivers, and ran through the botanical gardens amongst other things!

What an brilliant day!

Was it my fastest marathon? NO! In fact it was one of the slowest (4 hours).

But who cares! I have never been able to enjoy running a marathon whilst talking to locals, and taking pictures and videos along the way.

It was certainly the most fun, and I will treasure running this marathon in my favourite city in the world forever!!! :-)

Thank you Yoko! It was a brilliant day and one I will cherish forever. My next event will be even more special, which is the 'Fuji 5 Lakes Ultramrathon' in April. This one will be very tough!!! I look forward to the challenge :-)
