How to Write a Good Essay? 

 

Writing class is mainly designed for students who need to take PET and IELTS. And also some of my students take my class because they need a home tutor to proofread their essays. 

About this class, you will learn about how to develop your ideas, expend your critical thinking and make your writing organized and readable. There are many writing skills you might not learn in school! If you want to improve your writing, then here is the right place. *In each lesson, teacher will provide you a short article or a paragraph and then you will learn from others' writing and also write yours. So here I'm not going to address what we can learn in each lesson but just tell you what we expect to learn from this course at the end of the class! 

 

What you can learn from this course if you take 15~20 lessons? 

 

1: reading and writing 

map out your idea (tree map/thinking map)

What is the topic sentence? 

 

2: 

How to write a headline for the topic? 

How to develop your ideas into sentences? 

 

3: Write an email to your friends! /

Business email ( for adults)  

4. You will produce 8 to 10 writing piece at the end.  

5. You will improve your grammar and vocabulary use!

 

What you can learn from this course if you take 20 ~30 lessons? 

 You will learn the skills from 1 ~5 above and also below.

 

6. Write a complaint letter

 

7. Build writing fluency : conjunctions and transitions 

 

8. Relative Clauses ( Which / That) 

 

9. Smart Ways to Organize Your Writing: Planning and Structure for Productive Writers/ Reduce, Remove and Simplify

 

10. Let's write your own story !

Writing Class 主要為需要準備PET， IELTS，或商業書信而設計的。

 

課程會因學員的需求而設計，例如劍橋考試的PET學生，則會用他們的考古題最為例題，再加以加強單獨的寫作技巧。

 

 

因此在課程大綱內，不同於Basic English /Advanced English 等其他課程，並不會很明確的先告知教學綱要。而是會彈性的設計調整。但同時這裡老師有整理出期待的學習進步項目:

After request is confirmed (fixed)

  • More than 24 hours before lesson start time.→ Cancellation is possible at any time.
  • Less than 24 hours before lesson start time.→ The tutor may take a cancellation fee.
  • No-Show→ The tutor may take a cancellation fee.
