UK Man Breaks Guinness Record for Stacking M&M's

Will Cutbill from the town of Solihull, England, has broken the Guinness World Record for the tallest stack of M&M's. But when he tells his friends how many candies he stacked, they're surprised.

How many? Just five.

"I can tell they're a bit shocked," the 23-year-old told CNN, adding that they immediately want to try to beat him.

But balancing M&M's is a lot harder than it looks. Cutbill compares it to stacking soccer balls, adding, "They're not as flat as you'd think."

Cutbill said he thought of the idea of breaking the world record while eating a bag of M&M's during the UK's third COVID-19 lockdown. He then tried to stack the chocolate candies hundreds of times.

The old record, which had been held by Silvio Sabba of Italy and Brendan Kelbie of Australia, was just four.

When, at last, he balanced his tower of five M&M's on January 31 this year, Cutbill said he ran around the room with his arms in the air. He also celebrated by eating the chocolate stack.

Cutbill told Guinness World Records that he has wanted to break a Guinness record all his life. "I've bought the books every year and have always dreamed of one day reading my name in it," he said.

Now he has achieved his dream. But for those who want to beat him, Cutbill also shared some M&M's stacking advice. "If you stick at it, you will find a way to do it," he said.

New dicussion follows.
