1. Warm-Up: Opinion Activation (5 minutes)

  • Practice agreeing or disagreeing politely

2. Introduction to Persuasive Writing (5 minutes)

Teacher Explanation:

  • Persuasive writing tries to convince someone to agree with you.

  • It includes:

    • Opinion – What you believe

    • Reason – Why you believe it

    • Example – Proof or support

Key Vocabulary:

  • opinion

  • persuade

  • agree / disagree

  • because

  • reason

Model Sentence:

I believe school uniforms are good because they save time and reduce stress.

3. Persuasive Language Practice (7 minutes)

Teacher Input:
Introduce useful sentence starters:

  • I believe that…

  • In my opinion…

  • This is important because…

  • One good reason is…

Student Speaking Practice:

  • Students choose a topic:

    • School uniforms

    • Using phones at school

    • Extra homework

  • Students speak for 20–30 seconds using at least:

    • 1 opinion

    • 1 reason

Teacher Feedback:

  • Correct gently

  • Praise clear ideas and confidence

4. Guided Speaking Activity: Mini Persuasive Talk (8 minutes)

Task:
Students prepare a short persuasive talk (spoken, not written fully).

Structure on Screen / Board:

  1. My opinion

  2. My reason

  3. My example

Example:

I think students should use phones at school because phones help us learn. For example, we can use dictionaries or learning apps.

Student Action:

  • Speak for 30–40 seconds

  • Teacher may ask:

    • Why do you think so?

    • Can you give another reason?

5. Wrap-Up & Reflection (5 minutes)

Discussion Questions:

  • Was it easy or difficult to persuade others?

  • Which sentence was most useful today?

Teacher Summary:

  • Review key points:

    • Opinion + Reason = Persuasion

  • Encourage students to use persuasive language in daily life.

Optional Homework:

  • Prepare a short persuasive paragraph or speech for the next class.
