Here is an example of an idiom you might hear or have heard:
"It's raining cats and dogs." - This simply means it is raining very heavily. An example of how you can use it with a friend:
Your Friend: How is the weather? It's been sunny all week here.
You: Oh, the weather has been very stormy. It's been raining cats and dogs!"
