How well can you communicate in English when you don't have time to prepare your answer?


In this lesson, I will ask you a series of unexpected questions and listen to how you respond. The questions can cover a wide range of subjects, so you won't know exactly what is coming next.

For example, I might ask:

“What is your most valued possession?”


You might answer:

“My most valued possession is a piece of jewellery that my grandmother gave me. It reminds me of her, so it's very special to me.”


Or perhaps:


“It's my car. I always wanted a sports car, and finally I was able to afford one. I take care of it very well.”

There is no single “correct” answer. The aim is to see how naturally and flexibly you can express your own ideas in English.

I will listen to your answers and give you feedback on areas such as vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure and how you develop your ideas.

Want an extra challenge?

If you like, we can introduce a time limit. For example, you could have 45 seconds or 1 minute to answer each question.

This can be a great way to practise responding quickly and confidently without having time to prepare.

This lesson is great for:

  • Developing flexibility when speaking English
  • Learning to answer unexpected questions naturally
  • Practising how to expand and develop your answers
  • Building and using new vocabulary
  • Improving sentence structure
  • Developing faster response times
  • Becoming more confident speaking without preparation

The questions can be adapted to your level and interests, so this lesson can be challenging for both intermediate and advanced students.
