Practicing English while playing Minecraft! What a fun way to learn!

This is a free-talk English class where we use Minecraft to make conversation fun! We will play in Minecraft. Rather than following a traditional, structured English lesson, students practice speaking and communicating naturally while we play, explore, share ideas, ask questions, and talk together. The goal is to give students an enjoyable environment where they can use and practice the English they already know while learning along the way.
Not sure if this lesson is right for your child? You're welcome to book my 25-minute "Minecraft English Free Talk: Let's Talk About Minecraft" lesson first! It's a great way for us to meet, talk about Minecraft, and see if we're a good fit before booking a longer gameplay lesson. Please note that the 25-minute lesson does not involve playing Minecraft together.
Minecraft isn't just a game! While playing together, students can practice a variety of useful skills.

Creativity & imagination - Building, designing, exploring ideas, and finding creative ways to use the Minecraft world.
Problem-solving - Thinking through challenges, making decisions, and figuring out what to do when something doesn't go as planned.
Communication - Explaining ideas, asking questions, giving directions, and expressing what they want to do.
English conversation - Using English naturally while playing instead of only practicing through structured exercises.
Teamwork & cooperation - Working together on builds, adventures, challenges, and shared goals.
Good sportsmanship - Practicing patience, taking turns, handling wins and losses appropriately, and being respectful while playing.
Decision-making - Choosing what to build, where to explore, what materials to use, and how to approach different situations.
Social skills - Having conversations, listening to another person's ideas, compromising, and sharing the Minecraft world respectfully.
Independence & confidence - Having opportunities to make choices, share ideas, and take the lead during different parts of gameplay.
Spatial thinking - Planning builds, navigating the world, recognizing patterns, and thinking about how blocks and structures fit together.
⊹ What to Know before Class ⊹
- If a student is using Minecraft on the same device as Zoom, they can turn off their camera after facial verification at the start of class.
- The student and I may only play Minecraft together while actively participating in a scheduled lesson.
- All students must have a guardian present for the first 5 minutes of the lesson in case of technical difficulties.
- Students must be signed in to Minecraft Bedrock Edition (not Java) with a Microsoft account if they would like us to play together. If class has already started and the student is not ready to play, I will attempt to help resolve any technical difficulties. Depending on the remaining class time, free talk may be offered as an alternative.
- If technical difficulties occur, I will do my best to help the student during our scheduled lesson. If the entire lesson is spent working through technical difficulties, a refund will not be provided, as I was present and actively helping with the situation.
