Hi, I'm Shizue — born and raised in Osaka!

I spent many years working in customer service — restaurants, retail, you name it — and the communication skills I built there are something I bring to every single lesson.

After getting married and having kids, I kept up with my English studies and even earned a childcare qualification through self-study. I'm now in my 4th year as a Japanese teacher, and I truly believe — if it's not fun, you won't keep going. So I put a lot of heart into making every lesson something you actually look forward to.

In my lessons, feeling relaxed and comfortable always comes first. Mistakes? Bring them on! The more you make, the faster you improve. What I love most is that moment when you go — "Oh! So THAT'S how you say it!" Let's collect as many of those moments as we can.

My Teaching Style

Custom materials — learning through your ears, eyes, and real conversation
For beginner to intermediate students, I create materials tailored to your level and goals. I use audio clips, illustrations, and photos I've taken myself — so you're learning through both sight and sound. And we talk, a lot! The goal isn't to get through a textbook — it's to have real conversations and keep building from there.

Worried about an all-Japanese lesson? Don't be!
I'll explain words and grammar in English whenever you need it — reading, writing, speaking — whatever works best for you. If Japanese feels intimidating, that's exactly why you should give it a try!

Want more Japanese-only practice? (Intermediate and above)
We'll keep the conversation going in Japanese as much as possible, building your ability to think and speak at the same time. English is there as a backup when you need it — but you might surprise yourself with how quickly you stop needing it!

Every lesson comes with a Review Document
Whether it's free conversation, topic talk, or a grammar-focused lesson — I'll put together a document with all the new words, phrases, and key points from our session and share it with you on the spot. No more "wait, how did she say that again?" You can look back on it anytime, and it keeps growing with every lesson.

Whether you have a goal in mind or not
Traveling to Japan, using Japanese at work, understanding anime, everyday conversation — if you have a goal, let's go for it together. Not sure yet? That's totally fine! We'll figure it out as we go. All levels welcome! (Currently accepting students middle school age and above.)


Outside of teaching, I love traveling around Japan, soaking in hot springs, and eating my way through different cities. Disneysea and USJ are my happy places!(but I don't want to make a long line,lol)

I also love cooking — making delicious food and enjoying a good drink to go with it is one of my favorite things. I collect super detailed miniature food figures too! What's your favorite Japanese food?

And I'm a huge anime and manga fan — I saw the Demon Slayer movie three times in cinemas, and I own the complete collections of NARUTO, Hunter × Hunter, and Attack on Titan. Oh, and figures too  Do you have a favorite anime?

Anime & Voice Acting
Use scenes from your favorite manga to pick up natural emotional expressions and sound effects — in character! Learning from something you love is always the fastest way in. Come give it a try!
