I am Rebecca, your online English & Italian tutor. In our virtual classroom, we will turn language learning into a captivating adventure. Whether you are mastering grammar rules or diving into everyday conversations, I am here to guide you every step of the way.

Get to know me!
I am originally from a small, rural town hidden among foggy rice fields in the Po Valley (near Milan). At age 11 I moved from Italy to the cold northern Germany, most specifically Hamburg. There I started my full English education through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, which I concluded six years later in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Living in the Dutch capital was enriching, productive, and–of course–fun, so much so that I completed my B.A. in English Language and Culture at the University of Amsterdam. In 2019, when COVID-19 struck, I decided to live in Dubai, the UAE, with my parents for a while. After some time, I enrolled at Sophia University in Tokyo, where I completed an M.A. in Environmental Studies, focusing on wildlife photojournalism and writing endlessly about animals and climate change. Living in Japan for two years was an amazing experience that taught me beautiful lessons about culture, ethnicity, and language!
How will you learn with me?
I volunteered as a language tutor at Sophia University for almost two years. I taught one-on-one English and Italian lessons for fellow students interested in expanding their future careers. So, I am familiar with the struggles that Japanese students go through when learning either English or Italian, and I am happy to adapt to any request you might have!
For my degree, I studied English linguistics, literature, philosophy, debate, academic discourse, and literary theory. From the basics of conversation to more advanced courses, with me you can learn how to communicate English effectively!
I am passionate and proud of the intricate system of the Italian language, but I want to teach it to you in a simple way, making hard sentences and words easy to understand. I speak Italian every day, so I can help with daily conversations and more. We will start with basic words and sentences, then slowly add more. I will explain things in a way that is not confusing. But, of course, if you do not understand, it is okay to ask questions. We will practice talking a lot so you get better! I am here to help, and we will go step by step until you feel confident.
In my classes, we learn from each other. This means we both learn together, like friends. I choose topics that we both like and understand, making learning fun. I want you to ask questions and not be afraid of making mistakes. We set goals together and celebrate when we reach them. It is important to me that you feel comfortable and happy, because we are a team.
