Hello, 안녕하세요, and こんにちは!
My name is Jaime (ジェイミー) and I am a qualified English language teacher living in the UK.
Growing up with three different languages (English, Japanese, Korean) in the household made me intensely curious about how language shapes our way of seeing the world. This led me to my passion for language learning, and I have been teaching English in Korea and the UK for nearly 10 years now.
I have expertise in academic English and skills training for university students which includes critical reading, writing and presentation skills. So, if you are planning to study abroad (particularly in the UK) and want to prepare yourself for the new environment, I can share my knowledge and experience.
Don't worry though - I've also taught students with various learning needs and professional backgrounds. We can talk about what you want to achieve and how we can make that happen for you together!
Teaching Experience and Qualifications:
In Korea, I worked at private language institutions such as Wall Street Institute and Direct English where I taught students of various ages and careers. In the UK, I briefly taught in the summer programme at Bristol Language Centre, but I've mainly worked at the University of Bath where I am currently based. I am now working as an educational researcher, but still occasionally teaching students on academic skills.
I am a CELTA qualified teacher with a Master’s in TESOL and PhD in Education.
My interests and hobbies
I enjoy learning a new language and culture. I just started learning German a couple of months ago while I am still working on my Japanese – and it’s never easy! Sometimes, learning a new language can be frustrating and quite a challenging experience, but there are also many other ways to enjoy language learning. So, let’s find the perfect one for you together!
I also love any furry animals (as you can see in my profile picture), cooking, sci-fi films and novels. I used to travel and enjoy taking photos, but I don’t’ have much time to enjoy them anymore ... So, if you are a travel enthusiast, please do share your stories with me :)
My lessons
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, and I hope to talk to you soon!
