Marc Lowenstein Tutor Profile
This tutor is currently on leave.
My name is Marc Lowenstein, and I have been teaching English, literature, and both academic and creative writing (among other topics) at Japanese universities and schools for many years. I have also taught Business English, and I am essentially fluent in Japanese, having lived in Japan off and on for over 20 years now.
Personal interests including making music (I am a multi-instrumentalist, a vocalist, and both compose and mix my own music), reading literature (favorite Japanese authors include Kobo Abe and Haruki Murakami), writing lyrics and short stories, and watching movies.
If you are interested in improving any or all of the four skills in English, I can help, be it becoming a more fluent and confident speaker, learning to read more quickly and comprehend texts more readily, grasping phrases from movies you watch, or learning to write more professionally and/or creatively. I can also help you to gain more confidence in public speaking (i.e. giving presentations) or even performing on a stage.
Note: Although as a general rule I try and conduct all classes primarily in English, I am also happy to explain things in Japanese when concepts are difficult to grasp, so feel free to ask.
