Hi! My name is Emma, I'm a dual British-French citizen from north London, England. I have been teaching languages since 2016 and have a wide range of experience teaching in primary schools, language centres and universities. I also have a Bachelor's degree in International Business and Japanese, and studied language sciences and linguistics for a year at Master's level.

Teaching language to Japanese students :

During my time as a student, I volunteered as a French tutor for Japanese exchange students. I would provide help with understanding lessons, vocabulary, idioms, and correct pronunciation.

For the first year of my Master's degree, I wrote a paper on the acquisition of foreign language pronunciation by Japanese students. As research for this, I interned as an assistant teacher in an engineering school and worked with Keio University Master's students.


Teaching language to international students:

I taught language (English&French) to international Master's and pre-Master's students from countries such as China, India, Italy, Columbia, Brazil and Pakistan.

I also have experience teaching younger students. I worked part-time as an after school English teacher for young children between the ages of 4 and 9. 

My Teaching Style:

I absolutely love teaching, and aim to make my lessons as fun and motivating as possible.

I put a lot of focus on speaking as I think that communication is the key to acquiring a language ! However, I will also provide written notes at the end of a lesson to recap all the major points covered during the session.

During lessons I will correct your English (pronunciation, grammar, sentence structure, etc...), and offer more natural expressions when needed. 

My interests and hobbies:

As you might be able to tell I'm a language nerd. I love studying and learning new languages, and hope to one day master the Japanese language!

I'm also a massive animal lover; at home I have 2 dogs, 2 cats and a horse! I've always grown up around animals and took up horse riding when I was 8 years old.

My biggest hobbies are probably travelling & photography. 

I like to take lots of photos during my travels so I'll include a few for you to look at below! 


 I've travelled to Japan a handful of times, and plan on moving to Kyoto next year!
