こんにちは！私の名前はカナです。先生になりたいです!

Hello! My name is Kana, and I am from Virginia, United States. I am a TEFL/TESOL certified English tutor. I love teaching and offer my lessons to students of any age and background. My lessons are tailored to the needs of the student, and I love to customize lessons to make them more enjoyable and easily understandable. I am flexible and love to have fun in each lesson. I have lived on both the East and West coast of the United States, and enjoy teaching the nuances in spoken English in different regions of the country. 

I have had a passion for languages from a very young age. Growing up, my grandmother spoke Tagalog and I helped her learn English through the years. Now that I am a certified tutor, I am able to share my passion with people from all over the world. I taught myself Japanese from zero, and know what it’s like to be a beginner in a new language! When I am not tutoring, I love to read, write, garden, and play video games. I also love to travel, and had a great trip to Japan in 2024! The photos below include my favorite food (Filipino style), my dog Atlas, and me at the Grand Canyon!

Whether you are 5 or 75, I would love to join you on your journey to English fluency. It is never too late to learn a new language, and I love to encourage my students to think outside the box and challenge themselves. I deliver my lessons in an accurate but fun way of learning by incorporating games and interactive activities to keep students engaged and wanting to learn. I look forward to meeting you, I will see you soon!
