I was born and raised in Japan, and both of my parents are Japanese. I majored in Vietnamese language for 4 years at a Japanese university. After that, I studied abroad for a year at Hanoi University in Vietnam. Including the time I studied on my own, I have been studying Vietnamese for around 7 years now.

I hold a C1 (advanced level) certification in the International Vietnamese Language Proficiency Test. I use Vietnamese every day at work. I currently live in Hanoi, Vietnam, but I rarely have any difficulties with daily conversations.

I do think that I have a reasonable understanding of the points in Vietnamese that might be difficult or confusing for Japanese speakers (though there are of course individual differences), so please rest assured about this.
