Satoru Tutor Profile

Hello! My name is Satoru. I work as a Russian language tutor and a private tutor for mathematics (arithmetic) and science. I originally worked as a teacher at a private junior high and high school. After nine years of working as a homeroom teacher and subject instructor, I resigned and attended a specialized school for Russian language, where I obtained an associate degree. Immediately after obtaining my degree, I began working as a language tutor at a language school.
In addition to my current job where I teach Russian, mathematics, and science, I also provide assistance for school non-attendance issues and am involved in local activities promoting the value of books (publications).

I find happiness in being alongside people—whether children or adults—who are motivated to learn something new and improve their skills.
Let me help you gradually expand your abilities and build the confidence to think, “Maybe I’ll give it a little more effort,” no matter what you’re facing!

【Teaching Experience (Russian Language)】
● I taught grammar lessons primarily for beginners to lower-intermediate students at a language school. I provided basic instruction to business people preparing for business trips to Russian-speaking regions, and conducted courses to help those with several years of learning experience overcome their weak areas. I have taught students from various age groups.

● Russian is often perceived as having complex grammar with many rules to memorize, and there are few Japanese reference books available for this language. I focus on identifying points where self-learners tend to struggle with, while helping them maintain their motivation for learning.

【Teaching Experience (Arithmetic/Mathematics/Science)
●I provide follow-up support for elementary and junior high school students to help them keep up with their classes at school. I started this career when an acquaintance asked for advice about their child who had fallen behind in their classes. Together, we identified the child’s strengths and weaknesses, then patiently built up their confidence, step by step, with many “I can do it!” moments.

●For junior high school students preparing for high school entrance exams in mathematics and science, I not only explain contents from textbooks and practice problems, but I also provide targeted advice on overcoming specific areas that students might be struggling with. I also assist with exam preparation and planning. When students feel anxious about reaching their target school’s passing score or find exam preparation unenjoyable, I work with them to develop strategies to move past these struggles.

●I also tutor high school students in mathematics and physics. I have experience teaching physics from 2nd year junior high school to senior year high school students, covering everything from basic explanations to university entrance exam preparations. Both math and physics are subjects that many people find abstract and difficult. For those who are hesitant about asking their school teachers questions repeatedly, I provide explanations in various ways until they have that “Aha!” moment. Relationships between the student and tutor can also be a factor, so I welcome those who want to try a lesson to see if they feel my lessons if it would be enjoyable.

● Normally, in addition to online sessions, I tutor local children in a room of an old Nagaya house in Tokyo, surrounded by bookshelves. I believe studying shouldn’t be confined to school or cram school classrooms. I want to devise ways to help you feel that “online learning suits me! I can study more freely!”

Even if you have days where your Russian, math, or science skills aren’t improving much, I will absolutely never make fun of you. If you want an advisor to help you gain confidence and enjoy studying, let’s learn together!
