Hello!!
I'm Darcy and I'm from Melbourne, Australia but currently on a working holiday visa here in Tokyo, Japan. I have a bachelors degree in writing, and a masters degree in media. I enjoy reading, writing and watching films -- I love experiencing English in all forms!
Are any of you on a working holiday, or planning to go on one? Have you, or would you like to visit Australia?
Let's have natural conversations together!
I have broad interests, so I'm sure that we will be able to find something interesting to talk about! What are your hobbies? Are you interested in movies, music, anime, dramas, sports, food, coffee, nature, books, games, beer, Australia, etc? Let's find something in common!
Or, instead, is there an area of the English language that you feel that you're struggling with? Let's figure out what you're struggling with, and practise together!
Do you want to practise ordering at a restaurant, meeting new people, workplace etiquette, something else?
As we talk, I'll provide you with feedback as the conversation goes on, writing corrections, alternative words, and brand new words in the chat box, for you to practise during our lesson, and also look back on after we have finished.
My lessons are structured for students who already have some grasp of English, perfect for those who have studied at high-school or university. If you already know the basics, but want to learn how to speak casual or more native-sounding English then my lessons are perfect for you.
Let's work our conversation around your English level. If you are not yet confident in your English, let's begin with simple, everyday conversations to build up your fluency. If your English is already at a high level, then let's have more difficult conversations, and try to expand your vocabulary and understanding of conversational nuances.
Since coming to Japan and studying a new language I have become passionate about the art of learning and teaching language. I have only been studying Japanese for a short time, but have found that having natural conversations with people on the streets and at cafes, bars, restaurants, and various language exchange events has rapidly improved my language learning progress. The only way to learn a language, is to practise a language. Let's learn together :)
