Hi! My name is Angelica. I was born in the Philippines. I'm currently living and working in Kanagawa Prefecture.
I have been an ESL Teacher for thirteen years. I have been teaching various young and adult learners whether online, man-to-man, or classroom set-up. I'm flexible with all levels - Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. The learners can range from students (in elementary, junior high school, high school and college) to adults and professionals.
I hold an honors degree in Bachelor of Arts in English. I have also taken a 120-hour TESOL Certification. Aside from ESL Teaching, I also had some experiences working in a BPO company and a travel agency.
I love music. I listen to different genres of music, although I always get inspired with love songs as I am a romanticist. I play the guitar and some percussions. I also compose some songs whenever I'm so inspired. I tried playing the piano and bamboo flute before, but I became busier and had no more time to rehearse. I always enjoy live concerts and karaoke. I grew up doing easy jam sessions with my friends at home, singing, playing musical instruments and having fun.
I play some sports, such as basketball, badminton, tennis, table tennis and volleyball. I also like exploring recreational activities, such as wall climbing, zip lining, island hopping, etc. I hope to go scuba diving in Tubbataha Reef, Palawan, Philippines in the near future.
I also travel when I have long vacations. My favorite tourist destination is Palawan, Philippines. I'm a fan of Globe Trekker presenters and Samantha Brown in Travel and Living Channel. I dream of becoming one of the globe trekkers experiencing and documenting the culture, lifestyle and cuisine of the places I go to. It's my first time to travel outside my country. I'm happy that my first destination is Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun. I'm so excited to learn about a lot of amazing things here and I have a lot of time to do that. I start from the east heading to the west.
I write poems (rhymed or free verses), essays, journals, and short stories. It's necessary for me to write down my thoughts and feelings as part of my literary expression. I dream of publishing bestsellers in the future.
I appreciate literary works (fiction and non-fiction) from the oldest periods to the contemporary times. I like analyzing the meanings behind them and discussing them with friends or other literary enthusiasts.
I love Theater Arts. I used to act various roles in plays and even directed a few of them when I was in university. I enjoy the entire process from rehearsals to performance nights. I love the spectacles of plays and to experience theater productions.
Regarding my teaching style, I am friendly, enthusiastic and patient. I always base my lesson transition according to the response of the learner. There are learners who are quick and literally love English while some still need more time to process the information, so I adjust my pace to the level of the learners and continue supporting and encouraging them. I aim for meaningful conversation and language appreciation.
