Hi! I’m Aya. I grew up in Akita, hometown of Akita dog.

I went to Australia for a year as an exchange student when I was a high schooler, and that led me to look outside of Japan for a college. I graduated from University in America with Art History. After that, I never left U.S.A. :)

I’ve taught in high school, which was interesting experience. I also taught piano as a private teacher. I was invited as a guest speaker for a Japanese Culture class few times. I was really happy to find out that people are interested in learning Japanese culture!

I love anime!
Right now, I'm into Faily tail.

Also I'm a casual gamer.
I enjoy 7 days to die and Don't Starve a lot.

I love talking to people in general. It always leads to learning something new!

Aya Sensei is an amazing tutor! I really feel the progress taking lessons with her, after having struggled with Japanese for a long time. She encourages you to speak, and is very good at helping expressing yourself. She can explain the complicated things in a very easy way. Her English is also excellent. And on top of that, she is easy to talk to and have always a lot of topics to discuss together. After each lesson, I feel that I learnt a lot and it gives me a lot of motivation and confidence in my Japanese skills.

She is very friendly and easy to talk to, and my lessons with her have been great. She goes for a more natural learning approach, so I do recommend that other adult students who take her lessons study grammar from a textbook (imabi is a good, free, online one for those who aren't just starting) in addition to her lessons and homework.
