Hello dear students,I would like to share my great news with you!Today I reached my first milestone...

I am unable to accept new students.

Introduction:

Hello there!  My name is Louise and I look forward to teaching English to adults and children and helping as many students as I can.

I am from England, however in 2019 I started a new chapter in my life, by moving to the Philippines and getting married.

I believe that life is full of adventures!  From learning how to ski, holding an Albino python to performing a dance with my husband at our wedding, I have learned that new experiences and challenges are stepping stones towards a successful and enriching life.  So if you want to learn or improve communicating in English, I will fully support your learning goals and help you to achieve them!

Personal interests:

In my spare time, I am trying to be healthy by exercising through zumba, running, cycling and swimming.  I love dogs and I enjoy spending time with my dog, Cute.  Cute really enjoys going for walks!  Also, I am a Whovian, as I enjoy watching a British tv programme called, 'Doctor Who,' which is a Science fiction drama about having adventures and travelling through time and space.  Reading books is another hobby of mine.  I have read many books, such as all of the Harry Potter books but at the moment I am reading an adaptation of a nineteenth century novel.

Teaching experience:

I am a British fully qualified primary school teacher, with a PGCE from Roehampton University, London. In England, I taught children for ten years in two primary schools.  I really enjoyed designing lessons for my pupils and then teaching them.  The classroom was always buzzing with activity, as my colleagues and I worked together to help our pupils push their learning forward.  I taught all primary school subjects, including daily Phonics, English, Guided Reading, one-to-one Reading and Maths lessons.

My BA hons degree in English and European Literature has held me in good stead, as since emigrating to the Philippines, I have been teaching English Literature to a group of seminarians, who are adult students. One of their favourite parts of the lesson is to have a discussion or a debate about a topic.

I also have a TESOL certificate and I am currently teaching online English lessons to adults and children through Skype or Zoom.  Working as an online ESL teacher is a rewarding experience, as I have been able to develop and enhance my teaching, while also adapting my experience of teaching in a school classroom to a virtual classroom.  I enjoy meeting and teaching both adults and children in my lessons.

Teaching style:
I aim to plan and teach enjoyable and effective lessons to adults and children, which are student-centred with lots of rewards and encouragement.  I work with my students to set  and achieve suitable learning goals and I also give lots of constructive feedback.  I encourage a growth mindset approach to learning, which means that making mistakes and being challenged are good pathways to learning.  My focus is to help my students feel confident learning and developing their English in a professional environment, while at the same time making lessons interesting and enjoyable.

Other work experience:
Prior to my teaching career, I worked in the London head office of a Japanese global shipping company, NYK Line, for six years, which provided me with a good set of skills and experience.  I was able to gain knowledge and insight into a Japanese work environment and culture.  Working for a global company enabled me to enjoy meeting and working with colleagues from all over the world.  One of my job roles was to train colleagues to use a business and information analysis tool, which sparked my interest in entering the teaching profession.

To conclude:
Now that you know some facts about me, I hope that you will choose me as your English teacher so that we can start a new learning journey and adventure together!  The sky is the limit!
