Hello everyone,
My American name is Ron I also have a Japanese name Seiichi (正位置). I was born and raised in the United States to parents that were from Moriguchi, Japan and Hong Kong. I hold a Bachelors degree in Humanities and recently completed a Masters degree in Elementary Education. I have been teaching in the primary schools for years as a certified teacher in both preschool and primary. While I was teaching in the public schools, I had the honor to work at a school with students that were from Japan.
My interests in Japanese culture and languge came from a desire to learn about my own cultural roots. Besides being a native speaker of English, I can only speak a bit of Japanese. So I know how difficult it can be learning a language. Through tutoring on Cafetalk, my hope is to meet students from Japan as well as from other countries.
During my years teaching in the primary schools, I have taught many students who are English language learners. As a teacher, I was responsible for assessing my student's English and design lessons that builds on where they are at in their English abilities. The lessons were interactive, engaging, and fun that draws on their listening skills, visual, and speaking abilities. I had to also intergrate different activities that were motivating and promotes their English language learning.
Outside of teaching I enjoy going on nature walks, science, and tinkering with technology.
