先月、ポーランドのクラクフという街に行ってきました。
I visited Krakow, Poland, last month.
わたしは知らない場所を訪れると、必ずと言っていいほどその土地の映画館に立ち寄ります。観光名所を訪れるのも無論楽しいですが、現地の人たちの生活の一部となっている所を覗かせてもらう、そこには何か特別な悦びがあります。
When I visit a place for the first time, I almost always stop by one of its local movie theaters. Visiting tourist spots is, of course, fun, but getting a glimpse into a part of everyday local life gives me an indescribable pleasure.
上の写真は Kino Pod Baranmi という小さな映画館で撮ったものです。

この映画館が入っている建物は、古き良き時代の大邸宅といったような様相で、しかも映画館のエントランスがこの邸宅の中庭のようなスペースに面しています。地図アプリを何度見ても見つからないこのエントランスを、カフェの横にある通路を抜けてやっと見つけ、建物に入ります。封建的な香りのする階段を上がって漸くチケットカウンターに到達。
The building that houses this film theater feels like an old-fashioned mansion, and the theater’s entrance faces the courtyard of the building. At first, I couldn't find the entrance despite checking the map app on my smartphone several times, but eventually, I passed through a narrow walkway next to a cafe and found it. Inside the building, there is a staircase with a somewhat feudalistic atmosphere; I climbed it to get to the ticket counter.

スケジュールを見て、ポーランド語を話さない私は、『MOTOCYKOLISH』というアメリカ映画をポーランド語の字幕付きで見ることに(原題はThe Bikeriders、日本語のタイトルはザ・バイクライダーズ)。
Since I don't speak Polish, I decided to watch the American film "The Bikeriders" with Polish subtitles.

シアターに入ると、なんともおしゃれな座席が並んでいます。紫、水色、オレンジ、可愛い色の席たちの写真をパチリ。平日の昼間なのでまだ私しか観客がいません(少しして中年女性(多分、地元の人)が一人入ってきた)。
In the theater, rows of charming seats were neatly arranged. Purple, watercolor blue, orange.... I snapped a picture of those seats. Since it was a weekday afternoon, no one else was in the theater. Later, a local woman, probably in her 50s, came in.
ザ・バイクライダーズ、面白かったです。でも、なんといってもこの映画館ですよね。
The movie was good, but what impressed me most was the theater itself.
