Test prep should NOT be an isolated activity

FAQ: "What's the best way to improve vocabulary?"

- Depends. Are you only aiming to learn vocabulary for, say, the #GRE/#GMAT/#SAT exam (memorization = short-term memory), or for life (internalization = long-term memory)? Your goal will determine which approach is best for you.
But generally speaking, the in-context reading approach is usually beneficial for both test takers and enthusiasts. Also, from my experience, there's no alternative to reading voraciously.
For the GRE, for example, this means reading GRE-standard material -- such as Scientific American -- as voraciously and religiously as possible.
