My 3+1 Exercise Recommendations

Weekly Topic: General exercise/workout recommendations

Nov 27, 2019

Who wouldn't like to be healthy and fit as much as possible, right? We live in times where we are extremely conscious about the effect foods, drinks and exercise has on our bodies. We know a lot about our metabolism, we can count calories and even we can track our progress with different mobile applications. But in this myriad of activities and health tips, how can we find the most suitable ones for us?! Check out my advice that is based on my personal experience.

1. Walking
You may be surprised to see walking on the top of this list. Many people actually underestimate this light activity, but it's actually one of the most popular methods that many health experts recommend. Why? It's very simple. There is nothing strenuous about walking, you can easily make a daily habit of it, no special equipment is required and it can also be done while listening to music or listening to an audiobook. Walking is known to reduce high blood pressure, to reduce the insulin levels in your blood, that is actually great to avoid diabetes. It also lowers the chances of heart disease and stroke. I go on a longer walk of 1-2 hours at least 3 times a week. As it's not only good for the body, but also relaxes the mind. I recommend it to anyone, regarldess of his/her age.

2. Swimming
To be completely honest with you, I'm not good at swimming. I am quite slow and I often get terribly tired after a swimming session. This is because swimming moves every major muscle in your body and this consumes a tremendous amount of energy. Also people who have overweight, or simply don't want to overstrain their leg muscles can go to a pool, lake, river or the beach as well. I've personally seen how swimming can affect a person's health, how a person can lose weight or get in a great shape.

3. Yoga/stretching
Before I started it, yoga always seemed to be a combination of impossible movements and positions that would eventually make me break my neck. It was later, when I finally gave in and decided to try it I found out the relaxing and healing power of yoga. It helps us to get to know our bodies better, teaches us to focus on each muscle group and guides us to control our minds and spirit in the process. Even though I'm a beginner I recommend it to any courageous person who wants to try it.

3+1 Enjoy!
And the most important thing of all, never forget to enjoy whatever you're doing. No matter which sport you choose to do you should always remember to enjoy it and listen to your own body and limitations as well. Thank you very much for reading! Have a wonderful day!
