Crazy And Funny Facts You Should Know

Lyston G.

Dear, Readers.

I certainly hope I find you well.

I am excited to bring you this installment of Crazy And Funny Facts You Should Know.

There are many interesting and surprising facts about all sorts of things on the internet.

Whenever I find something interesting, I rush to the column to share with you.

Today, we are focusing on human beings.

In fact, there is an intriguing fact about the human nose and the sense of smell.

Are you ready?

Okay, here we go.

The human nose.

The human nose has roughly 400 types of scent receptors that can detect at least 1 trillion different odors. The human nose can distinguish at least 1 trillion different odors, a resolution orders of magnitude beyond the previous estimate of just 10,000 scents.

Humans detect smells by inhaling air that contains odor molecules, which then bind to receptors inside the nose, relaying messages to the brain. Most scents are composed of many odorants; a whiff of chocolate, for example, is made up of hundreds of different odor molecules.

A trillion! Now, I had to share this. I hope you enjoyed this fun fact as much as I did.

This information came from the famous science journal, Science.

I am looking forward to bringing you more fun facts.

Have a week to remember!

See you soon.
