Crazy And Funny Facts You Should Know

What a pleasure it is to be back.

I hope I find you well. The weather is terrific here. It is raining, and that keeps the temperatures down.

I also hope you are enjoying reading the fun facts this column brings.

I live in Thailand. I have a very interesting fun fact about the country I have come to call home.

Here it is;

Did you know that;

Every Buddhist man in Thailand is expected to become a monk for a period, once they turn 20, or before they get married.

This practice has several reasons behind it.

First, to learn Buddhist teachings which will lead them to become mature and be better people.

Second, to make their parents or loved ones grateful before leaving this world.

Thai people believe in life after death, and this is also considered a gift from sons to their beloved ones.

How long it takes depends on their willingness and convenience. It can be a few days, a few months, a year, or even throughout their lives.

This is a very intriguing concept from an African perspective. This practice is said to be common in other SE Asian countries as well.

I will try to bring you something from Africa next time.
