Glimpse of the Northwest: Seattle

Sep 21, 2015

Are you thinking about a homestay with me in Bellingham?  There is a lot to do in and around Bellingham, but if you long for a trip to the Big City, Seattle is just a 90-minute drive south.  Seattle boasts a number of famous landmarks and attractions.  Starbucks originated in Seattle, and you can visit the Starbucks headquarters and the first Seattle store in the famous Pike Place Market.  Seattle is home to the Seattle Mariners baseball team, and Safeco Field is the new stadium where they play.  This field is known for its retracting ceiling which can open and close depending on the weather.  One of my favorite destinations is Uwajimaya Asian Market.  This is where I stock up on Japanese tea, rice crackers, umeboshi, and other hard-to-find favorites.  These are just a few of the places you might want to see on a visit to the Emerald City.  Be sure to plan for a spring or summer visit as these are the best seasons to take advantage of this beautiful place!
