Hello Cafetalk Community!

How are you? I spent a nice Thanksgiving recently and I'm doing fine! How are you doing? I hope all is well.

Well, if I had to choose, I would have to say I'm a cat person. I have two cats named Coco and Chanel. They are sisters. My supervisor at the Santa Monica Main Public Library found some stray cats in her sister's backyard, so I took in two of them. Coco is a medium-haired, orange and white, striped cat. Chanel is a fluffy, long-haired cat (as you can see in the picture).

They are as sweet as can be, but they are also feral. Have you ever had a feral cat? It's impossible to put them in a pet carrier. No matter their size, they are all ferocious and they fight you like their lives depended on it. They can jump 6 ft high, straight up off the floor. When I moved, Coco and Chanel came with me from Santa Monica, California to Saskatchewan, Canada.

As I said before, I had a heck of a time trying to get them into their carriers. Coco fought me so hard that I had to get seven stitches on my hand. I know she didn't mean to hurt me, and it was all worth it in the end. The veterinarian had to come to my home and give them a shot to knock them out so we could put them safely in the carrier. The anesthesia only lasted about 3 to 4 hours, so by the end of the flight, the cats were attracting a lot of attention on the plane, meowing so loud.

At the airport, I had to hold them down on a cold counter while the airline attendants put the carriers through the metal detectors. I wouldn't have been so scared if there weren't a two-foot opening at the bottom of the door. I could just imagine myself on a YouTube video chasing after cats at the Los Angeles Airport.

Of course, Coco or Chanel would not come out of the closet for the first two weeks. It's been three years and they are fully acclimated. As a matter of fact, I couldn't touch Chanel for one year when I first adopted her. Now, she won't stay away from me and she's super loving.

It's not like I don't like dogs. I bet I would love dogs if I had them, but I don't have a house with a yard. If I had a house with a yard, I would definitely get several dogs. They are so cute and adorable as well. I know dogs are friendly, loyal, affectionate, and a great companion. I don't have to walk my cats every day, so they are more conducive to my lifestyle.

What's your favorite? I love both!

Warmest regards,

Lady Ayame
