Crazy And Funny Facts You Should Know

Dec 13, 2020

Dear, Readers.

I am pleased to be here with another installment of Crazy And Funny Facts You Should Know.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend, and you are looking forward to a bright new week.

In southern Thailand, it is still raining and sometimes there are deafening thunderstorms.

I hope you are having better weather conditions.

Today, I would like to share with you an interesting fun fact about M&Ms. This is a type of candy that is very popular with young people. I have used M&Ms countless times as bait in my English classes in Thailand. My students like them very much.

Here is the fun part. Did you know that:

M&M stands for Mars and Murrie.

The candy originated in the United States in 1941, and M&M's have been sold in over 100 countries since 2003.

Forrest Mars (son of the Mars Company founder) first spotted the British confection Smarties during the Spanish Civil War and noticed the candy shell prevented the chocolate from melting

He teamed up with Bruce Murrie (son of Hershey Chocolate's president) and the company later trademarked the "Melts in Your Mouth, Not in Your Hand" slogan.

At first, M&M’s were sold exclusively to the U.S. armed forces, as the candies were heat-resistant and traveled well.

The good reviews helped spur demand and send production to an all-time high. To this day, M&M’s continue to be included in MRE field rations for U.S. soldiers.

Interesting, isn’t it? It is amazing how a small idea can change the world.

It is yet another example of dreams coming true. Where there is a will, there is always a way.

I am looking forward to bringing you more.

Enjoy the week. See you soon.
