My Most Memorable Film of All Time

Weekly Topic: What was your most memorable film?

Dee Dee

The movie that touched my heart the most is Howl’s Moving Castle (Japanese: ハウルの動く城). This masterpiece is a 2004 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, produced by Toshio Suzuki, and animated by Studio Ghibli.

The first time I discovered this movie was in 2010. I ended up watching it three times the same night. I was impressed and fascinated by the animation quality, the story, the characters, the music, and everything about it was simply beautiful. I fell in love with the entire film so much that it wasn’t enough for me to watch it only once or twice, but three times during that night. Keep in mind that this film is over two hours long.

I still love this movie and I rewatch it every now and then. I also decided to watch all the other films that were created by Studio Ghibli. They are all great films, but Howl’s Moving Castle is just so special. However, I’ve become a big fan of Studio Ghibli ever since.

I’ve also visited the museum when I was in Tokyo for the first time in 2015. I was tearing up while entering the museum. I felt so much appreciation and gratitude to the people who worked on creating all of Studio Ghibli films. I watched all of the movies during the hardest time of my life. Those films took me to another world and lifted my spirits. I’m very happy to have found such masterpieces.

Thank you very much Mr. Miyazaki and everyone else who worked on making those wonderful animated films.
