Expanding Vocabulary by Learning Pop Songs

Marina Marie

It is a common belief that using songs to teach English is only suitable for very young learners, like pre-schoolers. However, songs make a very good tool for adopting new words, expressions and even grammar at older ages, too. In this video, you can see a teenage girl having fun while singing a pop song she likes and at the same time learning a new phrasal verb "keep on".
I also always recommend my adult students to think of an English song they like, find the lyrics for it and learn them by heart. This way you not only enrich your vocabulary but also get to enjoy singing your favourite song which, as we all know, can be very relaxing.
