Spring Food - UK Edition!

Weekly Topic: What foods represent spring to you?

Katy_Ikeda

Hello everyone!

Although the Spring weather in the UK is generally a little crazy (it can be really sunny one day and snowing the next), fruit and vegetables are more readily available and you can definitely be spoilt for choice!

My favourite is definitely strawberries - bright red, juicy ones!

Now that it's getting warmer and the lockdown restrictions are slowly being eased, I can enjoy a nice Strawberry Bellini beside the Thames with close friends and family (while observing social distancing measures of course!)

Do you know what a Bellini is? It's an Italian alcoholic beverage, usually made with peach puree and processco but there are so many different flavours to try in London.

It was my birthday earlier this month, and I had a slice of Strawberry Shortcake from one of the best Japanese patisseries in London: Wa Cafe. I definitely recommend popping by when you're next in the Capital!

Of course, there are lots of other vegetables in season during Spring (March - May): artichoke, beetroot, carrots, chicory, cucumber, leeks, parsnip, purple sprouting broccoli, radishes, rhubarb, spring onions and watercress!

Do you recognise any of these vegetables? What vegetables are in season in your country right now? Comment below!
