Kimetsu no Yaeba (or Demon Slayer) is playing in Canada!

Hello Cafetalk Community!

I know that Kimetsu no Yaeba (or Demon Slayer) is last year's news for those who live in Japan. I also heard that you can see the anime television series on Netflix Japan. However, I've been waiting for it to be released on Netflix Canada.

I was wondering why it was not released in Canada for so long. Now, it's finally here! I've watched it on Netflix recently, and I finally realized why it took so long. There are 26 episodes of the original "Demon Slayer's" television shows. They had to translate the Japanese script into English. Then, they had to hire American actors to dub it into English! It took a while until they recorded and dubbed 26 episodes into English!

I was hoping it would be in Japanese because I am able to understand it, but it's nice that they translated it into English for Western audiences. It makes me laugh because my husband said, "Why do the Japanese demons talk so much?" In America, action-packed movies are fast-paced, thrilling, and exciting to watch with very little dialog

Actually, I had to explain to him that it's not just brute force that wins the battles in Japanese anime and stories. The powerful Japanese protagonists that win use their brains as well as their brawn. Each of the different types of demons has its own specific and unique skills, power, intelligence, strengths, and weaknesses. Therefore, they have to include a lot of expository information and dialog in the anime. However, in the end, the good guy always outsmarts the bad.

I am also enjoying the devotion, loyalty, and strength of the familial bond. I am especially engaged in the dedication and love between Tanjiro and Nezuko. (At first, I wondered why Nezuko had something like a bamboo stick in her mouth). Now that I am beginning to understand the storyline from Tanjiro losing his entire family (except Nezuko), his training with the master, to becoming a demon slayer, I find absorbing, interesting, and awesome!

At the end of the day, I can see how this anime was originally written for children, but I also understand why people of all ages are into seeing the movie in theaters. I am thoroughly enjoying the Japanese scenery, Avante-Garde clothes (which is a mix between traditional Japanese clothing and recent hip-hop outfits), the colorful characters, and the American actors who did a good job dubbing the lines into English. I can see why people like it so much!

I wish you have a wonderful day or night! Hope to see you soon!

Warmest regards,

Lady Ayame
