Andersen's The Little Match Girl

Pilar Barrera

An image of a match girl inspired Andersen to write his famous story The Little Match Girl. Andersen’s was also inspired by his own mother. In his autobiography, Andersen says that when his mother was young, she had to ask for money in the streets, and when she didn’t receive anything, she cried under a bridge (Fairy Tale of my Life, 2).

Practice beginner English with my lesson on The Little Match Girl. Using the story, we will practice, weather, clothes, food, and basic family members.

And we will talk about the story too, of course!
