“It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door.”

Weekly Topic: My Unforgettable Journey

Jun 14, 2021

“It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

Every journey begins with a single step. But you’ll never know what happens on that journey if you don’t take that first step… This is what Bilbo tells Frodo in The Lord of the Rings. Well, we all know that Frodo’s journey wasn’t easy…

Our lives are journeys worth to be written… Each stage in our lives is a little step of that amazing journey. When I was little, I loved to have "incredible journeys”; one of my unforgettable journeys was camping on my backyard with my dog: we had many adventures! We stayed until very late sitting on the grass, and I imagined that we were in the wild; we explored the mysteries of the garden after dark, and I pretended that we were surrounded by many dangers and magical creatures… These were journeys of the imagination.

We all have many journeys in our lives: physical, psychological, and spiritual. Journeys are one of the most famous plot structures. From Little Red Riding Hood who went out into the forest to see her grandmother to epic journeys such as Frodo’s, when we read, we accompany these characters in their personal expeditions and experience with them their pains and joys.

Explore with me these journeys: let’s revisit Bilbo’s story, and Andersen’s fairy tales, or let’s talk about your favorite book characters and their stories in my 30-minute English conversation lessons called “A Cup of Tea”. (20% discount coupons in ALL my lessons for a limited time.)
