Great team ever!(史上最高のチーム!)

Teacher Asuka

Great team ever!

Today I'd like to talk about never giving up.

This year's World Baseball Classic (WBC) ended on the 22nd of March, 2023, and the Japanese team won and became champions again after 14 years! How great is that!

If you're a big baseball fan, you already know the following episode.

Before the final game between Japan and the USA, two-way superstar Ohtani gave a pep talk to his teammates, calling them "throw away admiration". Ohtani also says that this team comes here to win, not to admire superstars.

I was so moved by his pep talk, as well as his team's final games. It was a great game ever!

As you can see, the US team is made up of all the major league baseball players. So Japanese players tend to be nervous and look up to these superstars. Ohtani wants his teammates to concentrate on winning the game.

Another major league superstar, Darvish, joined the Japanese team at the beginning of February when the camp started in Miyazaki, western Japan. Darvish is the oldest player in the team and he knew that the Japanese team won the former WBC 14 years ago. He was a member of the team.

At the time, former Major League Baseball player Ichiro was part of the Japanese team and he also tried to pass on his values and skills to the younger players to help them win the WBC. It is said that Darvish remembered Ichiro's attitude and taught the younger players his way of pitching and his perspective on enjoying every game at the WBC this year.

The great Japanese team taught us a thousand things like never giving up and how to build good relationships in the team.

Thank you for being with me as always!

See you next time.
