Hi! Teacher Kana here! Here are 5 English slangs - explained!


1. Drop the ball - To be responsible for something and mishandle/not handle it at all.


Example:

I was supposed to finish the report, but I dropped the ball.


2. Once in a blue moon - Something that is done or occurs rarely 


Example:

I used to run everyday, but now I only run once in a blue moon.


3. Pick your brain- Asking someone their opinion or advice


Example:

I am buying a new car, I know you used to be a salesman so I wanted to pick your brain.


4. Under the weather - to feel unwell or sick


Example:

I missed work yesterday because I was a bit under the weather.

5. Shotgun - the passenger seat of the car


Example:

I want to ride shotgun!
