English Grammar Tip: Their, There, They're

Feb 6, 2024

Do you have trouble remembering which version of the word "there" to use in your writing? Let's review together!

Their - POSSESSION - We use this form of their when we are referring to a group of people's (or someone who uses they/them pronouns) possessions.
Ex: That is their purse on the table.

There - LOCATION - We use this form of there when we are referring to a place.
Ex: We are going to the park, meet us there!

They're - THEY ARE - We use this form of they're when we are contracting the two words "they" and "are"
Ex: Let's go see Yoasobi in concert, they're my favorite artist.
