ここは どこのお城でしょうか？
While visiting relatives yesterday, I went to see a castle.
Have you seen this castle?
金の鯱（シャチ）が わかった人はすごい！
そうです。ここは 名古屋城です。
この金のシャチは 海のシャチではなくて
頭はとら、体は魚という 空想の生き物が モデルです。
「水を呼ぶ」と 言われることから
火除けの おまじないとして 大事に されているそうです。
It's great if you know what a golden orca is!
That's right. This is Nagoya Castle.
This golden orca is not a killer whale from the sea.
It is modeled after an imaginary creature with the head of a tiger and the body of a fish.
It is said to be cherished as a spell to ward off fire by invoking water.
昔の人の知恵が 今に つながっているのですね。
他にも 細かく描かれた 御殿。
昔の人の心が 見えるような空間です。
The wisdom of people in the past has led to the present.
This is depicted in the finely painted palaces.
It is a space where you can see into the hearts of the people of the past.
過去の 写真や正確な図面が 残っていたため
2018年に 昔のままの姿で 復元されました！
Actually, this place was burned down in the war.
But because photos and accurate drawings from the past were left behind
it was restored in 2018 as it was in the past!
旅をするとき
私は 必ず美術館や博物館など
歴史を 感じられる場所に 行くのですが
このような 昔の人の心に 触れられる瞬間が とても幸せです。
When I travel I always go to places where I can feel history.
I am very happy when I can touch the hearts of the people of the past.
