When it comes to learning English, there are many that will say that they can help you to become a better English conversational speaker, but here’s something that everyone should seriously take into consideration before putting their trust in them.

1. Are they speaking with you clearly without using a lot of slang words and or curse words?

(If you answered no to this question, you should rethink about continuing to learn English from them.)

2. Are they truly helping you with improving your English pronunciation?

(If you answered no to this question, you should rethink about continuing to learn English from them.)

3. Are they truly giving you clear and accurate answers to the questions that you have about learning English?

(If you answered no to this question, you should rethink about continuing to learn English from them.)

4. Are they giving you good and clear examples to explain to you how certain English words and or phrases are used in a conversational way?

(If you answered no to this question, you should rethink about continuing to learn English from them.)

5. Are they telling you that speaking English with a strong accent is o.k. just as long as you can be understood?

(If you answered yes to this question, you should rethink about continuing to learn English from them.)

6. Have you made any significant progress in your ability to speak clearly and smoothly in English while you have been learning English from them?

(If you answered no to this question, you should rethink about continuing to learn English from them.)

7. Are you having a difficult time to understand clearly about what is being said while you are learning English from a person who is trying to teach you English?

(If you answered yes to this question, you should rethink about continuing to learn English from them.)

Note:

It really doesn’t matter how professional a person may sound like when they are teaching you English.

It really doesn’t matter if a person has a linguistic degree or not.

And it definitely doesn’t matter if a person is a native English speaker or not.

If they are’t teaching you English in the proper way by teaching you how to correctly pronounce English in the right way, if they aren’t teaching you how to properly read and write in English in a proper way, and if they aren’t truly giving you the necessary time that is needed for you to practice speaking in English in a conversational way, you should think about finding someone else to help you to become a better English conversational speaker.
