Breaking Bread, Not Hearts, This Valentine's Day

Weekly Topic: Valentine's Day Special: How is love expressed in your culture?

Camillus

Valentine's Day, to me, is more than just a commercial holiday. It's a special occasion to celebrate the love God has blessed my better half and me with.  While a bouquet of roses is a lovely gesture, it's never quite enough to express the depth of my feelings.  This year, as I give her those roses, I'll also be thanking God for helping us weather the storms of life together. Our relationship isn't perfect, but it's strong, built on faith and mutual respect.

We'll also share a meal together.  Breaking bread signifies unity and shared experiences, a beautiful reminder of our journey together. It's a time to reconnect, to laugh, and to simply enjoy each other's company.  Amidst the chocolates and flowers, I also like to remember St. Valentine, who bravely risked his life to marry couples in secret. His courage reminds me of the sanctity of marriage and the importance of commitment.

How do you, my fellow Cafetalk students, celebrate Valentine's Day?  Do you have special traditions? I'd love to hear about your celebrations and what this day means to you.
