Why is it that whatever I try to do to improve my English, I’m sill not able to make very much progress at all?

Answer:

The main reason behind this is because you are listening to people who you think is helping you to improve, who’s actually not helping you to improve at all. Instead of actually helping you to improve, they are helping themselves by causing you to think that they are helping you, when in actuality, they aren’t doing very much of anything at all. In their minds, it’s all about how much they can make from you by having you to come back to them over and over again without a thought in your mind about how much it is that you are actually learning and retaining.

1. A true and honest English Teacher is someone who is willing to put in the necessary time and energy to teach you practical everyday useful English that you can use in a conversational way without being misunderstood in any type of way.

2. A true honest English Teacher is someone who doesn’t waste his or her time teaching you things that will not help you to become a better English conversational speaker with the correct pronunciations.

3. A true honest English Teacher is someone who doesn’t put most of their focus on teaching thing’s that’s not very useful to you when it comes to talking with others in a conversational way.

4. A true honest English Teacher is someone who’s always trying their best to get you to speak in English using the words and phrases that you have learned without letting you to speak in your own native language.

5. And a true honest English Teacher is someone who makes it their goal to give you true and accurate information to every question that you have about learning English without saying, “That’s just how English speakers speak when they are talking with others.”

If you are learning English from someone who’s mainly focused on teaching you idioms, who’s mainly focused on teaching you vocabulary, who’s mainly focused on teaching you grammar, who’s mainly focused on teaching you English by reading an English novel, and who’s mainly focused on teaching you English by using tactics like tongue twisters, baby nursery school rhymes, and or things that’s not very useful to you when it comes to talking with others, it will take you a very long time before you will be able to become a good English conversational speaker.

To become a better English conversational speaker, one must push themselves to not only learn grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing, but also learn how to speak smoothly in English in a conversational way with the correct pronunciations.

If you are learning from someone who’s not correcting your pronunciations, who’s not correcting your mistakes when you are talking with them, and who’s not giving you the correct information to the questions that you have about learning English, you are just wasting your time and energy on someone who’s not as good at teaching English as how they would like for you to believe.

Yes, taking an English test and or exam is important.

Yes, increasing your vocabulary level is important.

Yes, being grammatically correct is important.

Yes, learning how to read correctly in English is important.

Yes, learning how to write correctly in English is important.

But if you can’t speak correctly in English with the correct pronunciations, you will always come across someone who will misunderstand you when you are having a conversation with them.

To make yourself to become better at English in a communicative way, you have to not only learn all of those things, but you have to help yourself to improve by doing a lot of talking without using your own native language as much as possible.

For those whose really serious about improving their English in a conversational way, you have to make a commitment to yourself to make yourself to speak in English on a daily basis without using your own native language as much as possible.
