Making a game out of chores, tasks, or goals can help relieve some of the stress of perfectionism. Because you can win bingo with only 4 goals completed, it's easy to carry that momentum onto new tasks!
This is how I suggest you create your bingo sheet: use the SMART formula! SMART stands for Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Relevant, & Timely.
Here's how to apply it:
SPECIFIC: Instead of saying "I want to get better at English," give more detail. Do you want to focus on vocabulary? Grammar? Speaking?
MEASUREABLE: For example, how do you measure "practice speaking in English"? Maybe choose a number of lessons (I will take 5 English conversation lessons), or a total length of time (I will take 3 hours of English conversation lessons). You could also focus on the topic of the conversation (have a conversation about my hobbies).
ACHIEVABLE: We have 2 months before 2025 is over. Please check your calendar & estimate how much you can do before the new year. Then, I suggest lowering that goal! This helps you feel accomplished by making smaller goals, & will force you to focus on a variety of tasks!
RELEVANT: For me, I dislike watching sports games. So, I would not add this kind of goal: "watch a sports game in English." Why? In order to feel motivated by the bingo sheet, you must want to do each task. If you make the game feel like a chore, then you'll dislike the process & your motivation will suffer.
TIMELY: This one's easy! If you make the bingo sheet with the end goal being the end of 2025, the you're done! If you're making SMART goals yourself, try and give yourself deadlines that are possible.
If you'd like to make your own bingo sheet for the last 2 months of 2025, I suggest making one that's 4 by 4 squares OR 3 by 3 squares. If you've got more time to focus on your goals, use a bigger sheet! If you don't have much time due to school, work, or other obligations, make it smaller. Once you've got a single bingo, you can always go for another or finish the entire board!
