My Matcha Journey Before the Year Ends

Weekly Topic: Things I want to learn before the end of the year

Mae Lin

When I saw this week's topic, I immediately knew what to write about.

Learning how to make the ultimate matcha latte!

Earlier today, I bought a traditional bamboo whisk to start learning the classic way to make it. I have seen movies about the Japanese tea ceremony and all of its detailed steps. I would love to experience a real ceremony when I visit Japan someday!

Ever since university, I have loved matcha lattes. In my country, we have a special ingredient that tastes amazing with matcha: ube (pronounced OO-beh), or purple yam. It is similar to a purple sweet potato, but it is naturally sweeter and more moist. The combination is delicious!

Before the end of the year, I want to learn how to make all kinds of delicious matcha recipes. I plan to experiment with ube, strawberries, honey citron, and more! It is time to get creative in the kitchen.

Wish me luck on my matcha journey!
