Take a Vacation at my Family's Farm

Aug 18, 2016 | 3 Comments

Hello Everyone!

Recently, I have been making plans for a very special opportunity. Some of you have heard of it, but now I want to introduce the idea to everyone and ask for your ideas.

Next year, I plan on opening a camp/vacation opportunity for students. It will be a getaway for those who want to experience farm life in the mountains of Oregon. The camp will be held on my mother's farm and guests who attend will have the chance to learn about different animals and have the chance to do a variety of things during their stay.

In order to plan this adventure camp though, I would really like some input from you guys. It would really help me out if you let me know your thoughts on what activities you want to do, what time of year you want to take a vacation and anything else you can think of. By giving me input, it will help me plan the best vacation experience for you!

So, please look at the questions below. (By the way, anyone who responds to all the questions will get a 50% off coupon for a 25 minute Daily Conversation lesson!) If you don't want to discuss it in the comments below, please feel free to send me a private message on Cafetalk. :)

When would you prefer to take an overseas vacation? (Please keep in mind the price of airline tickets and whether that will affect when you take a vacation.)

  1. 1. One week Before Golden Week
  2. 2. One week After Golden Week
  3. 3. During Golden Week
  4. 4. Another time of year (such as during Obon in August) Please give as specific of a time-frame as you can (for example: "August 12-18th")
  5. 5. It doesn't matter to me/ the price of airline tickets doesn't matter

How long would you like an adventure camp to be?

  1. 1. Less than 3 days
  2. 2. 4 days-5 days
  3. 3. 6 days-7 days
  4. 4. Longer than 7 days

What kind of activities would you like to do at a farm adventure camp?

  • Currently, I am planning on the following activities: Horse related activities (including riding, carting, animal care), goat related activities (learning how to milk a goat, play with baby goats), hiking, campfires, dog carting, English question and answer hour (every day).
  • Some optional activities could include: artwork (painting and drawing), baking lessons, crochet lessons, gardening, Country and western dance (lessons included), fishing.
  1. In your list, please include any activities that I have listed above that you Really want to do, really Don't want to do, and other activities that you would like to do that aren't in the two lists above.

Would you prefer to only participate in the camp with other students at your English level, or would you like to have students who are different levels of English ability? (Yes or No)

For Parents and Singles: Would parents prefer to have a camp that is specifically for parents and children (and no singles or couples without kids are allowed), or would everyone prefer to have mixed groups?

  1. 1. Designated camps for parents/children and Designated camp for people without children
  2. 2. Mixed groups

I look forward to everyone's responses! I am really excited to get this camp started so I can share with you all of the fun and excitement of living on a farm!

Have a great day!

~Tracy
